How to stay energy efficient throughout the cold weather

As blustery weather hits the UK, we’ve come up with some energy saving tips to help you stay warm this winter whilst also reducing your utility bills!

Many people are likely to turn up their heating appliances when it gets cold, consequently increasing energy consumption and energy bills. Here at Compliance365, we have come up with some energy saving tips to help you keep your energy consumption down during the cold weather.

Take advantage of the heat from the sun

Ensure all your curtains are open during the day to ensure maximum heat from the natural sunlight, however make sure you close your curtains at night to reduce the chill from cold windows and keep in that heat.

Turn your thermostat down, wear warm clothing inside!

If you turn your thermostat up when it gets cold rather than putting on a few extra layers you will end up increasing your energy consumption and energy bills. Pull on a jumper instead of pushing the buttons on your heating controls.

Decimate drafts

Ensure you keep out the cold drafts which may come from under the doors or around the windows. A draft excluder at the bottom of the door or a key cover to conceal any holes could make a world of difference.

Ensure all your lights are energy efficient

The cold weather usually brings some grey clouds which can make it dark outside at times. By ensuring all your lights are energy efficient such as LED’s which use 75% less energy than incandescent lighting, you could save on your energy bills!

Compliance365 can help you to improve the energy efficiency of your property, ensuring it is well equipped for the cold weather.
